Eric Spitz

Eric Spitz, was born in Breslau, Germany on December 1, 1924. Eric, along with his mother Vera and sister Ursula, escaped from Nazi Germany on May 13, 1939, on the famous ship, the MS St. Louis. They had hoped to find refuge in Havana, but the entire shipload of refugees were turned away by Cuba, the US, and Canada.
 
Eventually the mother and her children found safety in England. They were reunited with the father of the family, George Spitz, in London, where they spent the war years. Eric met his future wife, Inge Rosenthal, in London, and eventually emigrated to Canada in 1948.
